Marking her Paris debut with ST VINCENTS, Emily Thurman presents The Bells, a new chapter of her work for the second edition of the Contributions Design Festival. The collection is born from memory, questioning the relationship we have with the objects we hold dear.
In this deeply personal body of work, the Salt Lake City and New York-based designer explores the resonance of memory and material. Drawing from family heirlooms, Thurman challenges the notion of static reverence, asking how an object can be both treasured and invite spontaneous interaction.
The Bells is an intimate, multi-sensory installation that brings this concept to life through a series of meaningful collaborations, featuring an original soundscape by acclaimed musician Kevin Morby and the expert craftsmanship of Parisian jeweler and silversmith Zoé Mohm.
Staged within the historic Atelier Alterio, the presentation transforms the space into a forum for its central question: can play itself be an act of preservation? The installation directly challenges traditional boundaries between design, art, and auditory experience.

ABOUT CONTRIBUTIONS
CONTRIBUTIONS is a biennial design festival in Paris founded by Anna Caradeuc and Élise Daunay. A non-profit organization independent in spirit, it foregrounds collaboration and cross-disciplinary exchange. Its ethos is built on fostering impromptu collaborations across disciplines and for this year’s 2025 edition, Contributions intertwines design and music through site-specific installations accompanied by original sonic compositions, shaping a resonant dialogue between object and soundscape.
ABOUT EMILY THURMAN
Emily Thurman is a Salt Lake City and New York-based designer. After a decade in interior design, the founding of her studio in 2022 marked a shift to a hands-on practice in furniture and sculptural objects. Her work privileges collaboration over authorship and intuition over predictability, marrying technical know-how with a material-led approach. This de-siloed process, working with master artisans while embracing material unpredictability, defines her studio's path forward.
ABOUT KEVIN MORBY
Kevin Morby is a Kansas City based singer-songwriter and a celebrated modern auteur. Across seven acclaimed solo albums and numerous collaborations, he has built a distinct body of work known for its evocative lyricism and resonant themes. Each of his records creates a unique world, explored through carefully crafted sound and texture. His latest album, This Is A Photograph, is a visceral take on Americana, featuring some of his most powerful songwriting and lush arrangements to date.
ABOUT ZOÉ MOHM
Zoé Mohm is a Paris-based French silversmith. Her practice focuses on unique jewelry and objects, developed through bespoke commissions and collaborations. With a background in textiles, her work explores the movement of jewelry on the body, combining this kinetic quality with a strong narrative impulse. She draws from comic books and the storytelling traditions of embroidery to create pieces that convey meaning through symbols and form. Her materials range from silver and gold to found elements like antlers, crystals, and fossils.
