We’re delighted to host the debut solo exhibition of Dutch designer Nick Valentijn. Please save the date and join us—and the artist—to celebrate the launch of this new body of work.

Valentijn operates in the liminal space between sculpture and utility, guided by instinct, sketch, and steel. His chairs resist comfort; his cabinets refuse storage—objects that flirt with function but drift toward autonomy.

His process is raw, reactive, and physical: sketch, cut, weld—no renderings, no rehearsals. Each piece emerges from an improvisation between material, pressure, and timing, leaving behind visible seams, soft warps, and a quiet refusal to resolve.

This solo show traces its lineage to Valentijn’s seminal graduation project, conceptually developed in his grandfather’s metal workshop during his final year at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design (2024). Now working from a rural Dutch farmhouse, Valentijn’s new works extend that trajectory—shaped by heat, hand, and environment. Each piece is part of a unique series, individually handmade to general dimensions, ensuring no two are alike.
