Amsterdam-based designer Marte Mei developed Land-Allyship at the Rietveld Academie and Design Academy Eindhoven. This framework positions humans as collaborators within ecological systems, designing with rather than from nature. She also founded the Land-Ally Foundation to facilitate interdisciplinary projects bridging nature, public space, and collective responsibility.

Her practice translates site-specific research into furniture, jewelry, and spatial interventions. Mei treats materials as a continuous cycle: wood is sourced locally, and ceramics are glazed with ash from the same tree species. By viewing objects as temporary functional forms that return to the ecosystem, her work bridges the gap between the earth and the objects we inhabit.
