Marte Mei
Mending Lands – Stool
The Mending Lands Stool by Marte Mei. The Stool forms part of the Mending Lands series, a collection that emerged as the byproduct of Marte Mei’s year-long investigation into PFAS. The stool’s structure is crafted from walnut, while its tiles are made of phytoresin, a material that actively contributes to the remediation of PFAS-contaminated soil.
Designed as a modular piece, the stool allows for the phytoresin tile to be replaced with ceramic alternatives glazed with phyto-ash. Optional ceramic tiles include functional elements such as an incense holder, storage box, or compartment.
Handmade in the Netherlands, the Mending Lands Stool is available in various models and is made to order as per your specifications. For enquiries and customizations, please contact us.

READ MOREMarte Mei is an Amsterdam-based designer and researcher. She studied at the Rietveld Academie before completing an MA in Social Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven, where she developed a methodology called Land-Allyship: a framework that positions humans as collaborators within ecological systems rather than extractors of resources. Her practice unfolds through site-specific research, translating sustained exchange with ecologists, scientists, and local communities into furniture, objects, and spatial interventions.
