Kimy Gringoire
BIGFLOW FLOOR LAMP
BIGFLOW FLOOR LAMP by KIMY GRINGOIRE.
The BigFlow works abstract the heart into flowing, tubular lines that emerge from what Gringoire identifies as the heart’s basic anatomy: “two cheeks, a groove, and a point”. Among these is a mini chair composed of two interlocking arches in lacquered red wood; one arch forms the seat while the other rises as a backrest, causing the piece to read as a sculpture before it registers as furniture. Similarly, the floor lamp emerges in a single arc, its cross-section revealing a heart shape that is illuminated from within. These are joined by wall sculptures that protrude from the surface as arched gestures — red lacquered forms that Gringoire describes as “emotions in motion”.

READ MOREKIMY GRINGOIRE (b. 1983, South Korea) is a Brussels-based designer whose practice moves between jewellery and large- scale sculpture. She approaches jewellery not as ornament but as spatial design at the scale of the body. She founded her eponymous studio in 2020 with the launch of Love Cables — a collection of tubular forms in which the heart operates as both motif and structural device. Across her work, the heart is treated less as a symbol than as formal anatomy: two curves, a groove, a point. In jewellery, this vocabulary coils around the finger, wrist, or neck. In her expanded series BigLoveCables, it is translated into seating, lighting, and wall-based sculpture. The shift in scale recalibrates the work’s charge — from intimate contact with the body to direct occupation of architectural space.
